What Are The Problems With Stamping?

Jan 02, 2024|

1. Mold problem
The molds used in stamping processing are generally specialized. Sometimes a complex part requires several sets of molds to be processed and formed. The mold manufacturing precision is high and the technical requirements are high, making it a technology-intensive product. Therefore, only when the production batch of stamping parts is large, the advantages of stamping processing can be fully reflected, thereby obtaining better economic benefits.
2. Security issues
Stamping processing also has some problems and shortcomings. Mainly manifested in the noise and vibration generated during stamping processing, and operator safety accidents occur from time to time. However, these problems are not entirely caused by the stamping process and the mold itself, but mainly caused by traditional stamping equipment and backward manual operations. With the advancement of science and technology, especially the development of computer technology, and the advancement of mechatronics technology, these problems will surely be solved as soon as possible and perfectly.
3. High strength steel stamping
Today's high-strength steel and ultra-high-strength steel have effectively reduced the weight of vehicles and improved the collision strength and safety performance of vehicles. Therefore, they have become an important development direction of automotive steel. However, as the strength of sheet metal increases, the traditional cold stamping process is prone to cracking during the forming process and cannot meet the processing technology requirements of high-strength steel plates. When the forming conditions cannot be met, hot stamping forming technology of ultra-high-strength steel plates is gradually being studied internationally. This technology is a new process that combines forming, heat transfer and structural phase transformation. It mainly uses the characteristics of increased plasticity and reduced yield strength of sheet metal in the high-temperature austenite state to form through the mold. However, thermoforming requires in-depth research on process conditions, metal phase changes, and CAE analysis technology. Currently, this technology is monopolized by foreign manufacturers and domestic development is slow.
